At the IGOR Center for Lifelong Learning in Nature, we celebrated Earth Day with a fieldwork for the 6.b grade students of Antun Kanižlić Primary School from Požega. The fieldwork had an educational and developmental character and was implicitly focused on the themes of preserving natural habitats, biodiversity, and how spending time in nature can enrich us and strengthen our teamwork skills.
The students became little scientists, and through observation, measurement, mutual communication, and teamwork, they dynamically connected previously acquired school knowledge. We rounded off the importance of forest preservation and care with an ecological clean-up action in the Jasikovac forest in Marind💚or. The activity itself included outdoor recreation, socializing, and a joyful atmosphere.
We thank Croatian Forests, Forest Administration Požega, for their support and for organizing the delivery of a container for the collected waste. The students were accompanied by biology and chemistry teacher Danijela Stanić, a teaching assistant, and the school principal, Renata Marinić. The field lesson was conducted under the expert guidance of Nikolina Jamičić, univ. mag. educ. phon. rehab., univ. mag. educ. phil., a member of the IGOR Center team.
